Judo is a Japanese Martial Art and an Olympic sport, consisting primarily of throws along with grappling techniques such as chokes, pins and arm bars. Translated as the gentle way, Judo is for all ages, sizes and levels of athletic prowess. In watching a good judo match or even training, one might think,

“this looks scary, how can this be called the gentle way?” However, Judo philosophy and training methods emphasize attack and defense using principles of cooperation for mutual benefit and welfare of both partners, such that most of the moves can be practiced using full force to create a decisive victory without injury.
